Job Opportunity: Livestock Technician Apprentice at Coombe Farm
Coombe Farm is a dairy farm near Ivybridge, South Devon, spanning over 300 acres of grassland, with approximately 15 acres of fodder beet grown annually. The farm houses 250 pedigree Jersey cows split into a block calving system, along with beef and followers, totaling 600 head. The cattle are cubicle housed and fed TMR.
The farm has recently invested over £300,000 in facilities, including a refurbished 20:20 Rapid exit parlour, handling facilities, robot silage pusher, dairy, parlour, tracks, and fencing. All milk is processed in-house at an award-winning creamery that produces a variety of products under its own brand and for major supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose, Morrisons, and Aldi.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for someone eager to develop a career in dairy farming to join our dedicated team at Coombe Farm. This role provides the chance to achieve a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard as a Livestock Technician.
The successful candidate will:
* Be motivated, responsible, and proud of their work, with a considerate attitude toward livestock
* Be willing to learn all aspects of dairy farming, including cattle husbandry, field work, machinery operation, and maintenance, with training provided
* Hold a UK driving licence and have own transport, as the location is remote and accommodation is currently occupied

Working arrangements include:
* 40 hours per week
* On a rota, including every other weekend
The apprenticeship pay rate is the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices (£7.55 per hour).
Entry Requirements
Previous agricultural experience is preferred. Candidates without experience may be considered for a Level 2 General Farm Worker apprenticeship if they already hold Maths and English at Functional Skills Level 2.

Training Provided
You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship. Duties and responsibilities will evolve as you develop your skills, with a mix of face-to-face and online learning. Upon completion, you will gain a Livestock Technician Level 3 qualification, with further training and employment opportunities.
Additional Considerations
Due to the farm's location and limited public transport, a full UK driving licence and own transport are essential.
Future Prospects
Successful apprentices will have the opportunity for ongoing training, development, and permanent employment.
