About the Role
As an IT Apprentice, you’ll play a key role in supporting the daily operations of BuildStore’s IT department. Working closely with the IT Manager, you’ll gain hands‑on experience maintaining systems, resolving technical issues, and supporting ongoing IT projects. You’ll study towards a nationally recognised qualification while developing practical, workplace‑ready skills.
Responsibilities
* Provide first‑line technical support to internal users across the business.
* Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and network devices.
* Support the management of servers, cloud systems, and user access controls.
* Monitor and maintain IT systems performance, backups, and security.
* Log and document IT issues, resolutions, and system updates.
* Support IT improvement projects and technology rollouts.
* Help enforce data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance standards.
* Liaise with suppliers and external service providers when required.
* Deliver excellent internal customer service and clear communication.
* Manage and maintain the support ticket desk.
You Will Need the Following Skills
* A genuine passion for technology and IT problem‑solving.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Good organisation and attention to detail.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Windows systems.
* Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
Salary
£19,050 per annum.
Working Hours
30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 9am – 4:30pm; Friday 9am – 1pm.
