Reporting to: Engineering and Programmes Director
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing key hardware and software/firmware engineering projects in order to deliver those projects to the customer to the agreed scope, on time, to quality and within budget in conjunction with the Engineering team. Project management responsibilities include, and may not be limited to, the leadership, coordination, proactive management, completion and delivery of assigned projects. Ideally from a defence or related background and understanding contemporary ground-based Surveillance Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance (STAR) technology and products as well as an understanding of current End User concepts, tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), resulting in a sound understanding of the market intelligence and customer requirements to support bids & proposals. The project manager should be familiar with the principles of New Product Introduction (NPI) and gate processes leading to delivery of a mature and productionised product and have previous experience managing hardware/software projects. Lead, set and manage deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and manage progress of assigned projects and prepare scheduled reports (Project status, Budget status, Quality status etc) as required and to support reports for management. A wide degree of creativity, flexibility and latitude is expected.
Responsibilities
* Lead and direct the work of other project team members to ensure successful project delivery
* Plan and accomplish goals and meet objectives; think and act correctly on your own initiative
* Prepare cost and price build‑up analysis using data in the company’s MRP and cost models
* Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
* Coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible
* Liaise with operations for lead time estimates and production schedule updates for customers.
* Coordinate internal business resources and third parties (vendors, supply chain, etc) for the successful execution and delivery of multiple projects
* Ensure that all projects are delivered on‑time, within budget, to quality and scope
* Coordinate resource availability and allocation
* Develop a detailed project plan to monitor, track and report project progress
* Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
* Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques
* Report and escalateto line management as needed
* Manage the relationship with the client and relevant stakeholders
* Perform risk identification & management to minimize potential risks
* Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
* Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
* Delegate appropriate project tasks effectively based on team members’ individual strengths, skill, knowledge and experience (SKE) levels
* Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals/objectives
* Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
* Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients/customers as well as other project team members
* Use and continually develop leadership & management skills

* Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level
