About the Role
Mental health support workers help people experiencing mental health challenges in their daily lives. The role focuses on practical assistance, emotional support and building skills for independence and recovery, helping maintain stability, avoid crisis and work towards recovery.
What You’ll Do
* Provide support: listening, encouraging and helping manage distress.
* Support daily living: assisting with routines such as menu planning, meal preparation, cooking and budgeting.
* Promote independence: help develop life skills, confidence and coping strategies to manage mental health.
* Monitor wellbeing: observe changes in behaviour, mood, physical health and report to professionals.
* Encourage engagement: support attending appointments, social activities, education or employment.
* Implement support plans: follow personalised agreed needs as assessed by Care managers and risk assessments.
* Advocate: help people express their needs.
