Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and organized Student Support Specialist to assist our counselors in guiding students and families through the college planning and application process. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion in working with students and to help them achieve their higher education goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Meet one-on-one with students and families to do check-ins
* Assist students in researching and identifying suitable colleges and universities
* Guide students through the application process, including timelines, essays, and deadlines
* Support students in preparing first drafts of college essays, resumes, and interview skills
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and counseling sessions
* Stay informed on college admissions trends, financial aid opportunities, and scholarship options
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree in Communications, Psychology, Counseling, Education, or related field preferred)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational and time-management abilities
* Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
* Familiarity with local high school curriculums and college admission requirements would be beneficial
