12-Month Contract with a Local Authority
Summary
* This senior position within the Borough Public Health team reports directly to the Director of Public Health (DPH). The role is crucial for commissioning the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme, supporting the DPH in managing the Collaborative Agreement between the NHS and the Council, and contributing to the Best Start in Life Strategy. It also focuses on maternity and child health priorities as outlined in the draft Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2026-2031.
Responsibilities
* Lead the commissioning, review, and performance oversight of the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme.
* Ensure high-quality, effective service delivery aligned with local and national public health priorities.
* Provide expert advice to senior leadership and partners on children and young people’s public health.
* Support the development and implementation of evidence-based early years and child health initiatives.
Essential Experience Required
* Extensive experience as a senior manager in children’s services (e.g., Head of Service or equivalent).
* Significant experience commissioning 0-19 children’s public health services.
* Experience working within a local authority at a senior management level.
* Experience working within the London Borough, with well-established local networks.
* Strong understanding of the challenges of implementing collaborative agreements between the NHS and the Council.
Essential Qualifications Required
* A relevant professional background in public health, social care, or children’s services.
* Senior management experience relevant to commissioning and children’s public health.
Additional Information
* Working hours: 28.50 hours per week.
* Hybrid working: Requirement to be on-site in person on average 4 days a month.
* 12-month contract to start as soon as possible.
* DBS required.
* Bi-weekly payment schedule.
