About the Opportunity An established and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Family Lawyer to lead its Private Family team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious family law specialist looking to step into, or further develop, a leadership role within a supportive and progressive firm. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to inspire, develop, and lead a team while continuing to deliver exceptional service to clients. The department handles a broad range of privately funded family matters and has built a strong reputation for providing practical, high-quality advice during what can often be challenging periods in clients' lives. The Role As Team Leader, you will manage your own caseload of family law matters while taking responsibility for the performance, development, and growth of the wider team. Key responsibilities include: Managing a varied caseload of privately funded family law matters Advising clients on divorce, separation, financial remedy proceedings, and children matters Handling complex financial settlement cases Conducting negotiations, mediations, and preparing matters for court where necessary Providing strategic input into the ongoing development of the department Supervising, mentoring, and supporting junior lawyers and support staff Conducting performance reviews and assisting with team development plans Promoting best practice, compliance, and exceptional client service standards Supporting business development, networking, and community engagement activities Working closely with senior leadership on departmental strategy, growth, and performance Monitoring team productivity, performance, and profitability Encouraging cross-referral opportunities across the wider business Candidate Profile Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors or Chartered Legal Executives who can demonstrate: A minimum of 5 years' experience in family law Strong experience handling financial remedy and complex matrimonial finance matters Experience managing a varied private family law caseload independently Excellent communication, negotiation, and client care skills Strong organisational and case management abilities Commercial awareness and an understanding of departmental performance metrics A proactive, resilient, and solutions-focused approach Leadership experience or a genuine desire to progress into team management Previous supervisory or management experience would be advantageous but is not essential for candidates who can demonstrate strong leadership potential.
