About the role:
To manage a Countywide out-of-hours service to provide urgent, person-centred support when it matters most. To ensure the team is able to respond quickly and compassionately to safeguard adults and children in Powys, focusing on what is most important to them in that moment. emergencies.
About you:
You will have the knowledge and skills to be a resilient leader with strong decision making skills, expert knowledge of Safeguarding and Mental Health Law and the ability
to communicate effectively under pressure.
What you will do:
You will ensure the effective organization and management of an out-of-hours emergency duty service that provides a comprehensive social care response across Powys in line with the requirements of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 ensuring compliance with legal safeguards and protecting the rights of individuals. Your team will be prepared to deliver and coordinate urgent support and advice for
children and families, including arranging accommodation for children who cannot remain at home. They will also provide assessment and emergency support for vulnerable adults, including access to residential or respite care. You will ensure the team are equipped to fulfil their statutory responsibilities as Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended 2007), including:
• Coordinating Mental Health Act assessments out of hours.
• Making decisions on compulsory admission to hospital when necessary.
Where required you and your team members will act as the Appropriate Adult in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 to support vulnerable individuals during police procedures.
