Job Title: Interim Finance Manager
Location: Maidenhead, hybrid working, 3 days in the office, 2 days remote e/w
Salary: c£425 to £500 per day inside IR35 (umbrella)
Duration: 3 month contract initially
An established FTSE listed infrastructure and construction business is seeking a Finance Manager to join its Group Finance function.
This role sits within the Record to Report team and supports the delivery of accurate financial reporting across overhead and entity accounting.
You will work closely with senior finance leaders and business stakeholders. The role offers strong exposure across group finance, with responsibility for reporting, controls, and team leadership.
Key responsibilities
Financial reporting and control
• Lead the review of overhead business unit results, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations across the overhead and entity accounting team
• Oversee journal postings and ensure entries are completed in line with reporting deadlines
• Maintain strong financial controls and resolve accounting issues quickly
Team leadership
• Manage and develop one direct report
• Support the delivery of day to day activities within the Record to Report function
• Monitor team performance against targets and identify improvements
Accounting oversight
• Manage the fixed asset register, including monthly depreciation and amortisation
• Ensure capital expenditure is recorded correctly and tax treatment is applied where required
• Oversee insurance recharge processes across group entities
• Maintain insurance records and coordinate updates with procurement teams
Compliance and stakeholder support
• Manage VAT reconciliations in collaboration with the tax team
• Respond to queries from project teams on cost allocations and recharge rates
• Support audit activity and information requests from external auditors
• Provide clear financial insight to senior stakeholders and non finance teams
Projects and process improvement
• Support finance transformation and system development initiatives
• Identify process improvements that strengthen controls and reporting quality
Candidate profile
• Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
• Experience in financial reporting, overhead accounting, or entity accounting
• Proven ability to manage and develop small teams
• Strong understanding of balance sheet control and financial systems
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle EnterpriseOne is beneficial
• Confident presenting financial results to senior and non-finance stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail with a structured and organised approach
• Able to manage competing priorities in a busy reporting environment
