Overview
RF Systems Test Engineer — Cambridge | £50,000-£65,000 + benefits | On-site most of the time
Solving new problems every week rather than repeating the same test plans. The company designs complex RF systems for mission-critical defence and security applications. You’ll be involved in hands-on testing that is varied: calibrating systems in the lab, running EMC, vibration or shock tests in a chamber, and validating performance in the field.
It's a hands-on role based locally, with time in the lab or test chambers. The team builds their own proprietary tools and shapes testing approaches, with encouragement to find better ways of working.
The business has doubled in size and revenue over the last three years. With new investment and the backing of a global parent, benefits are improving (12% pension, bonuses, stock schemes). The engineering team is expected to double again in the next three years, creating scope to move into more senior roles or to gain variety and growth from new projects and products.

* Calibrate and test RF systems in the lab; perform EMC, vibration, and shock testing in chamber environments as required.
* Conduct field validation to verify system performance in real-world conditions.
* Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain RF test equipment; develop and use proprietary testing tools.
* Help define and shape testing methodologies; seek improvements and efficiencies in testing processes.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to support new products and test plans.
Qualifications
* Solid RF testing background (telecoms, defence, or similar).
* Experience with antenna theory, EMC compliance, and certification/qualification.
* Hands-on experience with RF test equipment.
* Embedded Linux exposure or scripting (Python/C++) would be useful but is not essential.
Benefits
Benefits include a 12% pension, bonuses, and stock schemes; opportunities for growth as the engineering team expands.
