A well-regarded law firm with offices across Surrey is seeking a Newly Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join its growing Private Client Department in Dorking. The department advises clients on wills, probate, estate planning, and trusts, with a focus on high-quality, tailored legal support. The successful candidate will be supported by senior lawyers and partners, offering hands-on experience and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide advice and support to clients on a range of private client matters, including wills, probate, estate administration, trusts, and powers of attorney
* Manage a supervised caseload, ensuring all matters are progressed efficiently and professionally
* Draft legal documents such as wills, lasting powers of attorney, and trust deeds, ensuring compliance with legal standards
* Assist in estate and inheritance tax planning, including advising on trust structures
* Support the full administration of estates, including applying for grants of probate, liaising with HMRC, and distributing estate assets
* Deliver a high standard of client care, with sensitivity to clients' personal circumstances
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations, including SRA and AML requirements
* Take part in ongoing training and development to remain up to date with changes in private client law and best practices
Candidate Requirements
* Recently qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive, ideally with experience or a training seat in private client work
* A genuine interest in private client law, particularly trusts and tax planning
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain legal matters clearly and empathetically
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in both document preparation and file management
* Able to build strong and trusting relationships with clients
* Familiar with legal case management systems and standard office software
* High standards of ethics, professionalism, and integrity
