The School
You will be working with a well-regarded SEN provision in Barking, supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including:
* Autism (ASC)
* Developmental delay
* Sensory processing differences
* Fine and gross motor difficulties
* SEMH and communication needs
The school adopts a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, working closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral teams to deliver tailored, child-centred support.
The Role – Occupational Therapist (Band 5 or 6)
This is a full-time position, starting ASAP, with flexibility around in-person or remote delivery, depending on service needs and experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Conducting assessments and developing individualised intervention plans
* Supporting pupils with sensory regulation, motor skills, functional independence, and access to learning
* Delivering 1:1 and group interventions aligned with EHCP outcomes
* Working collaboratively with school staff to embed OT strategies into classroom practice
* Providing guidance and training to teachers and support staff
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to EHCP reviews and multi-agency reports
Person Specification
Essential:
* Qualified Occupational Therapist
* HCPC registered
* Band 5 or Band 6 level
* Able to work independently within a school or remote setting
* Strong communication and collaborative working skills
* A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
Desirable:
* Experience working with children or within an SEN school
* Knowledge of sensory integration and paediatric OT approaches
