Senior Mechanical Tool Design Engineer Location: Blackpool Industry: Aerospace Employment Type: Full Time, Office Based Overview Morson is supporting a leading engineering organisation operating across aviation, defence, and space. They deliver mechanical design solutions through a full turn-key capability spanning design, analysis, additive manufacturing and full product optimisation. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Tool Design Engineer to join the team. Role Description The Senior Mechanical Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for generating high quality mechanical design data including 3D models, 2D drawings, design schemes and Bill of Materials. Additional responsibilities include: • Producing FMEAs, user manuals, CE marking documentation, investigation reports and design reviews. • Representing engineering design at PDR, CDR and FDR customer review gates. • Applying Poka-Yoke, ergonomics, aesthetics and HMI design principles. • Supporting manufacturing partners and design supply chains. • Checking design data and approving components, tooling and supplier outputs. • Contributing to training, quotations, project management and customer liaison activities. Skills and Experience Required Applicants must have at least four years of relevant experience along with: • Strong understanding of the full tool design life cycle and through-life support. • Ability to lead projects independently with minimal oversight. • Experience designing mechanical structures in a digital environment. • Ability to produce complete and accurate design data packs and supporting documentation. • Knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials. • Understanding of design for manufacture and additive manufacturing principles (DFM and DFAM). • Competence with engineering toolsets such as CATIA and associated PLM systems. • Strong MS Office capability including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. • Clear and confident communication skills. • Ability to work both independently and across multiple project teams. • Consistent accuracy, attention to detail and adherence to required standards. • Awareness of current and emerging engineering technologies. Qualifications • MEng or BEng in an engineering discipline, or equivalent. Pre-Requisites • Clear DBS check. • Eligible for UK Security Clearance.
