Welding Engineer Northwest UK | Permanent
A well-established engineering business with over 100 years of technical heritage is looking for a Welding Engineer to strengthen its welding coordination team. Specialising in complex, high-integrity products for defence and industrial programmes, the business is expanding and investing in its welding quality function.
What you'll be doing:
Fulfilling the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) function, ensuring compliance with welding standards and procedures
Supporting day-to-day welding activities across production and engineering teams
Developing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) for new and existing products
Planning and coordinating internal welder audits and accreditation activities
Conducting pre-audit analysis for EN 1090, ISO 3834, and DIN 2303 compliance
Coordinating welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606 and 14732
Identifying root causes of weld issues and driving corrective actions (RCCA)
Reviewing and assessing welding suppliers
Creating SOPs and work instructions to support accurate information flow
Supporting production engineering and design teams on welding matters
Assisting with welding plant selection and best-in-class technology implementation
What you need:
IWT/EWT qualification and TWI registration
CSWIP 3.1
Previous welding coordination experience
Strong knowledge of MIG/MAG and TIG processes
Working knowledge of ISO 3834
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Experience supporting external audit activity
Strong communication and people management skills
