Sensory Integration Occupational Therapist (band 5/6 equivalent)

Are you passionate about working with children who have encountered a difficult and traumatic start to life? Do you want to make a real difference to adopted and care-experienced young people? We are looking to expand our Sensory Integration provision to meet the growing need of our service users for high-quality assessments and interventions. We recognize the crucial role sensory integration can have in achieving good outcomes for children and families we support. Having established our sensory package, we now need the right person to help us grow and develop it.

You will work closely with our existing SI OTs, psychologists, and therapists to offer multidisciplinary assessments of attachment and sensory needs for children. You may also offer consultations to families regarding their child's sensory needs, with scope to provide direct work to children and families, as well as consultation and training to the wider network.

The Child Psychology Service (TCPS) CIC is a not-for-profit organization committed to providing caring, therapeutic, psychological support to children and their families. We offer a free-at-the-point-of-access service and deliver training and consultations to partner organizations. We work closely with NHS and social care colleagues to provide specialist assessments and interventions not always available within statutory services.


Main duties of the job

* Provide high-quality sensory assessments and therapy to children and their families remotely and potentially in their homes or schools under supervision.
* Deliver effective sensory therapies to children under supervision.
* Produce high-quality, succinct assessment reports guiding interventions.
* Develop skills to deliver SI parent consultations in the future.
* Provide evaluation reports demonstrating intervention effectiveness.
* Build and maintain relationships with children, families, and professional networks, often in challenging circumstances.
* Offer consultation and training to professionals.
* Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to promote child safety and risk management.
* Maintain the high reputation of the service.
* Collaborate to develop new service areas, e.g., consultation to residential homes, training to schools.
* Work within the social enterprise framework.
* Ensure high-quality work and meet productivity targets to sustain the service.
* Promote and advocate for the service actively.
* Adhere to TCPS policies and procedures.
* Participate in staff development, team meetings, supervision, and other meetings as required.
* Work flexibly, including occasional unsocial hours, as needed.
* Undertake any other duties aligned with the job purpose and grading.

The Child Psychology Service (TCPS) is a social enterprise with thirteen years of experience, built on therapeutic principles emphasizing playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy. We have a strong reputation for effectiveness and compassion, demonstrated by client and commissioner feedback and our Outstanding Ofsted status. TCPS primarily works with care-experienced and adopted children and their families, providing consultations to local authorities, regional adoption agencies, residential children's homes, and schools. Job responsibilities

* Work flexibly and occasionally outside standard hours to meet service needs.
* Undertake other duties as appropriate.

Experience

* Applicants should have completed some postgraduate sensory integration training; we support ongoing qualification development.
