Role Overview: Instrument Technician
Reporting to the C&I Lead Engineer within the Maintenance Team, this role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of production equipment and support systems at Royston/Brimsdown. Your primary focus will be instrumentation tasks such as repairs, calibration, and testing, along with minor project work and supporting other maintenance duties as needed.
The role requires independent and collaborative work with Maintenance and Production teams, including supporting apprentices. You will report on breakdown investigations, communicate task progress to production, and address issues proactively.

Your Responsibilities
* Perform planned, reactive, and corrective instrumentation maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
* Diagnose electronic/electrical faults and support operational needs.
* Implement plant modifications to enhance safety and efficiency.
* Conduct inspections, testing, calibration, and adjustments.
* Update CMMS with work progress and manage spare parts inventory.
* Collaborate with team members on engineering programs and failure investigations.
* Support project teams during design stages for plant reliability improvements.
* Interpret technical drawings for planning and execution.
* Complete administrative tasks such as work orders, timesheets, and requisitions.
* Perform statutory testing to maintain ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 compliance.
* Own your training and development, undertaking additional skills training as needed.
* Issue permits and manage contractors.
* Adhere to safety policies and change management procedures.
Work pattern involves 12-hour day shifts, including weekends, on a rotating schedule. Flexibility to work outside normal hours during busy periods like annual stocktakes is required.
Minimum Requirements
* Electronic/Control qualification at HNC level or higher.
* Experience in manufacturing or chemical industry maintenance.
* Desirable: Profibus networking, computerized maintenance systems, large-scale plant experience, problem-solving techniques, electrical/mechanical drawings comprehension, LEAN manufacturing exposure.
