With effect from 01 April 2026, NHS Scotland is reducing its full time working week from 37 to 36 hours per week, there will be no change in full time pay.
The Young People’s Unit provides intensive in patient assessment, care and treatment for North of Scotland adolescents within the age range of 12 to 18 years who suffer from major psychiatric disorder, which cannot be met within an out patient or intensive outreach/home based treatment service. We offer a broad range of therapeutic interventions, including individual, group and family work.
We are looking for a social worker to join the North of Scotland Regional Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team. The team supports people affected by severe mental health problems between the ages of 12 and 18.
You will be required to have a sound working knowledge of assessing individuals needs and co-ordinating and monitoring care packages, and of relevant legislations.
Where a young person referred to the Young Peoples Unit is already allocated to a social worker within their home authority, you will liaise with that social worker to help promote the Child's Plan, as appropriate. Where there is no current social work input, you will contribute as the multi disciplinary team considers necessary.
You will be bringing specific social work skills and work in an integrated setting with other health professionals Good verbal and written communication is essential and an ability to work effectively with a variety of other agencies is also required.
You will hold a recognised professional social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS with appropriate option) and be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.
