You’ll become part of a highly skilled team of six Software Engineers, reporting directly to the Software Manager, working collaboratively across hardware and software disciplines to develop next-generation embedded systems from the ground up.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing product development and taking ownership throughout the full product lifecycle.
The Role
As an Embedded Linux Engineer, you will:
* Design, develop and maintain embedded software for Linux-based platforms
* Develop high-quality software using Embedded C and C++
* Support hardware board bring-up and low-level system integration
* Build and customise Linux distributions using Yocto and/or Buildroot
* Work across the full product lifecycle from concept and architecture through to release and support
* Collaborate closely with hardware, systems and software engineering teams
* Contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions and continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong commercial experience developing Embedded Linux applications
* Excellent Embedded C and C++ programming skills
* Experience with Yocto and/or Buildroot
* Hardware board bring-up experience
* Understanding of embedded systems architecture and debugging techniques
* Experience working across the full product development lifecycle
* Ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering environment
Desirable Experience
* CI/CD pipelines and automated build environments
* Wireless communication technologies including BLE, Wi-Fi and IoT devices
* Linux kernel, device driver or BSP development
* Version control tools such as Git
* Exposure to modern software development methodologies
