Torquay Health and Well-Being Team are recruiting for a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join our large but supportive team who enjoys mentoring team members and students, and is passionate about delivering quality care to housebound patients.
We work in an integrated way with allied health care professionals within the locality. As a Healthcare Support Worker within an integrated team, you will work alongside and across community teams including Community Nursing, Intermediate Care, and Community Matrons.
We are a motivated and caring team passionate about delivering high-quality care to the housebound patients of Torquay, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with primary and secondary care.
Responsibilities
* Assist and perform clinical responsibilities delegated by qualified nursing staff, including observing, monitoring, and recording patients' conditions (temperature, pulse, respirations, weight).
* Provide personalized care such as infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene, reassurance, comfort, and safety.
* Conduct ECG recordings, monitor blood sugar, provide Stoma and Catheter care, Venepuncture, and Cannulation where appropriate.
* Administrative duties like answering the telephone, taking messages, and referring to the Staff Nurse for instructions; participate in ward/unit meetings to promote effective communication.

Effective communication with patients, carers, and health professionals across various settings; assisting in delivering holistic nursing care; maintaining confidentiality; participating in team development; supporting induction of new staff; accurately recording clinical observations; and managing IT systems for prescriptions and equipment orders.
