Are you a talented and creative writer with a passion for storytelling and an affinity for the world of luxury yachts? BOAT International, the global authority on superyachts, is looking for a junior digital writer to join our dynamic digital team – the perfect entry-level job for someone looking to launch their editorial career in a fast-moving industry.

About the Role
As junior digital writer at, you will be at the heart of our digital team, writing across everything from brokerage news to yacht news, features and round-up articles.

Key Responsibilities

1. Reporting into the Online Editor, you will write content across multiple touchpoints on the website ­– from yacht, brokerage and business news to SEO-optimised roundups.
2. Assist the Online Editor in ensuring that all content is optimised across the website using key tools, keyword research and best practices.
3. Assist the Online Editor with uploading content from the print magazine and tweaking it to ensure it is relevant for a digital audience.
4. Work alongside multiple stakeholders in the business ( digital, social media, events) to consider best ways of promoting and sharing content across BOAT International’s channels.
5. Stay up to date with trends and developments in the superyacht industry with the view to pitching articles and working with the Online Editor to further develop these ideas.
6. Work closely with the wider editorial team to maintain BOAT International’s reputation as the leading voice in the luxury yacht sector.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

7. Someone with a curious mind and a desire to learn - ideally a recent graduate in journalism or an early-career writer looking for their first step into digital journalism.
8. Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a flair for storytelling.
9. Someone who thinks about content as being multimedia-based - across print, the website, podcast, video and various social media channels.
10. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.
11. A passion for the superyacht lifestyle and a genuine interest in the luxury industry.

Summary of employee benefits

14. Annual leave - Full-time benefit is 33 days per year (25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays). The Company also offers up to an additional 3 days of paid time off during the Christmas office closure period. This applies to all staff employed during the closure period regardless of their start date or if notice has been given. These days do not form part of the annual leave entitlement.
15. You will also receive your birthday off or the following day each year, provided it falls on a weekday.
16. Long Service Award
17. The holiday year after your 5th anniversary, you will be awarded one additional day of annual leave.
18. Pension You will be auto-enrolled into the pension scheme provided you meet the criteria. Standard contributions are set at 4% but the Company matches employee contributions up to 5%.
19. Death in Service Whilst an employee, cover for all staff (permanent and temporary) of two times annual salary.
20. Maternity pays 12 weeks at 100% of basic pay followed by 27 weeks at Statutory Maternity Pay rate, provided at least one year service.
21. Paternity pays 1 week at full pay, followed by a second week at Statutory Paternity Pay rate.
22. Enhanced sick pay After probation, the company will pay up to two weeks full pay per year, increasing to five weeks based on the length of service.
23. Cycle to Work -The Company operates a Cycle to Work scheme to enable you to enjoy tax free cycling.
24. Refer a friend scheme We operate a refer a friend scheme where you are paid a £500 employee referral payment for successfully referring a friend or contact for employment with us. Payment is made upon successful completion of their probation.
25. Love Wimbledon -Lots of discounts for shops, restaurants etc with a Love Wimbledon card.
26. Summer Hours (Discretionary) Early finish at 3pm every Friday during July and August.
27. Nuffield Health Gym Membership -Nuffield Health Gym across the road offers discounted membership rates for employees.
28. Healthcare Cash Plan -The Company offers a health cash plan which helps with the costs of dental, physio, optical and other medical expenses. Please note that this is a taxable benefit.
29. Season Ticket Loans -Employees can request an interest-free loan to purchase a Season Ticket to be repaid over 12 months.
30. Whirlpool Appliance Discount Scheme -Employees benefit from our Whirlpool VIP discount scheme, under which you can enjoy savings of at least 20% on Whirlpool products, which includes Hotpoint and Indesit brands, plus free delivery. Products range from washing machines, refrigeration, cookers and dishwashers to Hotpoint’s Small Domestic Appliance range.
