Overview

The Research and Innovation Department is creating a dedicated research delivery team for ATIMP cellular therapies. This is a rare opportunity to join at the very start of service development and help shape an innovative programme of work. We are seeking a Band 6 Research Nurse for a full-time post (1.0 WTE) on a 12-month fixed-term contract (externally funded, with potential for extension). Based at St James's Hospital, the role will involve close collaboration with multiple specialties, industry partners, and regional/national research networks.

The post holder will play a key role in the conduct, coordination, and delivery of complex early-phase and first-in-human ATIMP (Advanced Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products) and cellular therapy trials. The main tasks are:

* Coordinating and delivering care for patients receiving investigational cellular therapies, including safe administration of SACT and investigational cellular therapies while maintaining exceptional clinical standards.
* Managing complex, cross-site patient pathways to ensure timely, compliant, and patient-centred care.
* Supporting trial set-up, monitoring, and high-quality data collection to ensure studies meet regulatory and sponsor requirements.

Main duties

We are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated individual with a keen interest in research to work within the ATIMP Cellular Therapies Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering innovative early-phase and first-in-human ATIMP (Advanced Therapy Investigational Medicinal Product) and cellular therapy trials.


Essential criteria

* Registered Nurse (NMC) with eligibility to administer medicinal products.
* SACT-competent.
* Willingness to undertake all necessary training to safely administer cellular therapies in line with regulatory requirements.


Desirable criteria

* Experience or knowledge of cellular therapies.
* Previous experience in clinical research.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination and delivery of the Research Portfolio, under the leadership of the Senior Research Nurse/Midwife/AHP. They will work with the MDT to ensure high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety and patient satisfaction, compliant with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, and legal/regulatory requirements. They will support the planning, scheduling, conduct, recruitment, patient care, and data collection required for all studies within the department. They will develop their own clinical practice, maintain competencies related to the research portfolio, and take delegated responsibility for clinical elements of studies where appropriate, in line with Trust policies and study protocols. They will collaborate with external agencies and partners to derive accurate data capture and ensure pharmacovigilance is maintained.
