Overview
Stockport Talking Therapies is a successful multi-disciplinary IAPT service and is excited to recruit an enthusiastic Band 7 CBT therapist. The service provides innovative Primary Care Psychological Therapies using a range of evidence-based treatments for people requiring a brief psychological intervention within a stepped care model, in accordance with NICE guidelines. The core IAPT offer includes Step 2 (cCBT and Guided Self Help) and Step 3 (CBT, EMDR, Counselling and Inter-Personal Therapy). Group interventions are offered at all steps, including: - Skills for Life group (for younger people, 16–25 years, using an emotional skills approach) - Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy group - Living Well (for clients living with a Long Term Condition) The service includes practitioners specializing in Younger People and Peri-natal clients and is accessible for case consultation. Step 3.5 provides enhanced therapeutic offers (CBT/EMDR/counselling/CBASP) for more complex presentations, alongside Psycho-Dynamic Therapy and Psycho-Sexual Therapy. All staff across steps bring a wealth of skills/knowledge to ensure high-quality psychological therapy services.
Responsibilities
* To provide brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) assessment and therapy to service users.
* To provide advice, consultation and supervision as required to other mental health professionals.
* To participate in ongoing service developments within the service as and when possible.
* To carry out the assessment, formulation and treatment planning for service users referred to the service.
* To provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to service users.
* To attend relevant meetings related to service user groups and to advise on referrals appropriate for CBT.
* To work closely with relevant other professionals as appropriate.
* To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment plans to service users and their multidisciplinary professional team.
* To undertake risk assessment and risk management of service users.
Role Requirements / Expectation
The successful candidate will be expected to provide CBT-based assessment, formulation and treatment for people experiencing a moderate to severe common mental health problem, with opportunities for group-based intervention in addition to 1:1 client-facing work. There are options for a combination of remote and office-based working.
Responsibilities include providing CBT to clients referred into the service who are deemed appropriate for Step 3 intervention, managing a clinical caseload in line with the Trust’s operational policy and IAPT manual. The role includes working toward national standard service targets monitored by Stockport CCG and Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership.
The successful candidate will attend monthly clinical supervision to develop knowledge, skills, promote access to clinical excellence and ensure safe therapeutic practice. High levels of clinical governance are expected, including all documentation, and the post will involve close collaboration with the Line Manager, Senior CBT Therapist, and Clinical Lead.
The service encourages staff development and participation in the delivery of clinical supervision and/or training to colleagues and partner organisations. Opportunities may include further training in various therapeutic modalities and/or specialist areas and champion roles. Staff are offered 5 CPD days pro rata, with monthly CPD events.
