Overview
A Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant is required to join our dynamic, community adult learning disability physiotherapy team.
The successful applicant will assist the Physiotherapists working with adults with a learning disability across Flintshire and occasionally Wrexham in a variety of settings including homes, day centres and clinics. Reporting to senior physiotherapists, the post will involve a wide range of clinical duties including assisting therapists in delivering group and individual therapy programmes.
Responsibilities
* Assist the physiotherapy team working with adults with a learning disability across Flintshire and occasionally Wrexham in homes, day centres and clinics.
* Carry out tasks on instruction from a qualified physiotherapist, including individual and group sessions with adults, under direction but without direct supervision.
* Assist in group treatment sessions, supervised and unsupervised moving, handling and positioning, assessment and treatment sessions, and the delivery of individual exercise programmes and mobility assessments.
* Provide minor aids and teach their safe use (e.g., wheeled walking frame).
* Contribute to delivering high standards of patient care in community settings and undertake delegated clinical programmes of management and some administrative duties to support the department.
* Note that specific clinical and administrative duties vary according to the setting.
Qualifications and Experience
* Ideally, prior experience of working with adults with disabilities in a care setting and a clear understanding of the work of a physiotherapist with adults with a learning disability.
* Ability to prioritise own workload with efficient time management and to work with adults with a wide variety of additional learning and physical needs.
* Excellent communication skills with a high degree of diplomacy, tact and patience due to high levels of contact with professionals, family and carers.
Development and Language
* A comprehensive development programme is available, including regular support and direct training, regular supervision and internal and external training opportunities.
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
