Senior Theatre Practitioner – Scrub Band 6 (37.5 hours per week)

The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing support and knowledge to patients within the speciality and acting as a role model for effective organisational, clinical and leadership skills. The role requires participation in the Directorate internal rotation programme, undertaking anaesthetic, scrub and recovery duties as required to meet service delivery needs.
Responsibilities
* Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
* Provide support and knowledge to patients within the speciality.
* Act as a role model, demonstrating effective organisational, clinical and leadership skills.
* Participate in the Directorate internal rotation programme.
* Undertake anaesthetic, scrub and recovery duties as required.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate record keeping.
* Adhere to HCPC/NMC codes of professional conduct and Trust policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Maintain evidence of ongoing specialist professional development via a personal portfolio and the NHS knowledge and skills framework.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
* Adhere to the Trust and departmental dress code policy.
* Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously.
* Deliver expert, skilled care to highly dependent patients in a specialised area.
* Ensure effective communication at all levels and disciplines, including sensitive and confidential information in theatre.
* Compile and maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with H.P.C./N.M.C. standards and Caldicott reporting.
* Communicate sensitive and confidential information to patients, families and staff using empathy, negotiation, persuasion and reassurance.
Qualifications
* Register Nurse, current NMC registration or ODP, current HCPC registration.
* Qualification relevant to specialist area (Diploma/Degree in Specialized Theatre Practice, ENB 182/176, HEA605 or equivalent).
* Mentorship or Teaching and Assessing course (ENB 998, C&G756, Mentorship in Practice, D32/D33).
Desirable criteria
* ILS/ALS or demonstrable post‑registration experience in a relevant theatre area, with at least one year at a supervisory level.
* Responsibility for running clinical areas on a shift/daily basis.
* No unaccounted career breaks.
* Evidence of mentorship within the specialist field and appropriate appraisals.
* Evidence of active participation in the development of unit guidelines or initiatives.
* Understanding of Trust policy and practice.
* Management training.
* Policy and procedure writing skills.
* Understanding of budget management and related political and professional issues.
* Expert knowledge in one area of practice.
* Knowledge of Trust/NHS performance targets.
* Demonstrated effective leadership.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to write clear, concise reports.
* Good IT skills.
* Creative problem‑solving approach.

* UK professional registration appropriate to the role.
