Here's what you'll be up to…
* Coordinating enterprise risk management, internal audit and internal compliance activities
* Assisting in the design and implementation of a refreshed enterprise risk management framework
* Connect, network and collaborate across the whole of Council
* Getting a broad knowledge of functions and opening further career development opportunities
* To be successful you'll need to be organised, analytical and collaborative, as well as having the requisite qualifications, skills and experience
* This position will ensure that risk, audit and compliance activities are systematic, meaningful, and value adding, thereby enhancing governance systems and the quality of information reported to the General Manager and the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

What are we looking for?
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or emerging risks
* Professional curiosity - someone who isn't afraid to ask "why?" and dig deeper into processes
* Continuous improvement mindset — always looking for ways to strengthen controls, reduce inefficiencies, and support better risk outcomes
* Collaborative approach, understanding that risk and audit activities rely on building trust and strong stakeholder relationships
* Working in risk management, internal audit, assurance, compliance, or process governance
* Exposure to risk registers, control assessments, incident management, or similar frameworks
* Experience conducting internal or external audits - gathering evidence, tracking actions, preparing documentation, or working with auditors
The must-know bits
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.
Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.
