They are a renowned Specialist School in the West Yorkshire area that provides a unique and supportive learning environment for pupils with complex communication needs. This includes students who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as those with Autism (ASD), PMLD, and multi-sensory impairments.

The Role
* Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
* Start Date: September 2026
* Contract: Full-time, Long-term (with Temp-to-Perm opportunities for the right candidate)
* Daily Rate: £90 - £110 (depending on experience)
This is a vital role supporting students with a variety of complex needs. You will be working with learners who may be non-verbal or have profound and multiple learning difficulties, requiring a high level of physical and emotional support.
Required Skills
* Communication Flair: An interest or proficiency in BSL (British Sign Language), Makaton, or PECS is highly advantageous.
* Sensory Awareness: The ability to support students with sensory processing needs and adapt environments accordingly.
* Resilience: A calm, patient approach when supporting students with ASD who may exhibit challenging behaviours.
* Nurturing Nature: A genuine commitment to providing high-quality care for students with PMLD.
Duties
* Individualised Support: Working 1-to-1 with students to help them engage with a sensory-based curriculum.
* Personal Care: Assisting with all aspects of personal care, including feeding, changing, and manual handling (hoisting) where required.
* Communication Support: Acting as a "communication partner" to help non-verbal students express their needs and choices.
MUST
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).
* Valid and proven right to work in the UK.
* Previous experience supporting children or adults with complex needs (PMLD, ASD, or sensory impairments).
* Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or relevant experience in Nursing/Care.
