Role Overview:
Responsible for supporting the Retail development of the Franchise business across all markets, business development and optimising overall sales/profitability. Supporting the Head of Brand Implementation & Central Operations & Local Franchise Partner
The strategic objectives of this role include working closely with the Franchise Retail and Operations manager to support the delivery of the overall direction of the business. Acting as a brand guardian for the JD brand and global process.
The role of the Retail Onboarding & Development Manager
is to educate / nurture and support our franchise partners ensuring the teams are fully supported and driven to achieve the best possible representation of JD. Equipped, and supported to maximise sales and ensure stores meet global JD standards.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
• Coach all aspects of the day today running of the Groups Franchising retail operation.
• Areas of responsibility are to coach all retail aspects which include trade, operations, visual merchandising, training, and development.
• Work with and support partners on all set up procedures to successfully launch the franchise in each market.
• Support forecasting process, annual budgeting, cost control in line with JD global guidelines, along with maximising store sales at store, area and regional level.
• Coach the franchise teams in best-in-class store operations, team development, brand presentation and customer experience.
• Build strong and effective cross-functional relationships and communication within our organisation and franchise partner, ensuring that the commercial and operations teams work in partnership with buying, merchandising, warehouse operations, marketing, multichannel, finance, property, and human resources.
• Use leadership & influencing skills to bring together various stakeholders to achieve common goals and strategy. Ensure successful delivery of strategic projects and initiatives to further develop excellence within the business.
• Organise weekly and quarterly retail & operations meetings with relevant departments to review processes, improve communications and co-ordinate action points.
• Support with the execution of the agreed property strategy for territory, including the opening and closing of stores.
• Troubleshoot any issues with a hands-on approach to improving operational efficiencies, systems and processes, aligning to JD global where possible.
• Collate & analyse complex data and deliver clear conclusions and actions to Franchise team
• Coach best practice compliance measures in all areas of operational activity to protect the business from legal exposure and financial risk Profit protection, H&S & HR.
• Work with the franchise retail operations team in providing strategy, guidance & coaching to achieve the corporate standard within the region.
• Support business performance through training, visual merchandising, KPI Management, sales growth and cost-effective operational execution.
• In market visits as required to support and ensure that all brand guidelines and JD DNA is being adhered to and review any addition training requirements if needed.
• Portal / Manual and other training materials maintained in line with global business improvements.
• Help drive the International Franchisee teams to achieve the goal of operational efficiency and visual excellence across all markets, ensuring a strong and consistent brand image is always portrayed.
People and Talent Management:
• Support Head of Brand Implementation & Central Operations & Franchisee to build, develop and coach a high performing regional retail team, dedicated to quality, innovation, operational excellence and best practice.
• Consistently encourages and supports the development and motivation of the Franchise teams allowing them to fulfil and achieve their role and personal objectives and support the growth of the Franchise business.
• Develop and lead a team with appropriate capabilities to execute against plan and also ability to scale those capabilities with the business as it grows.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed:
• Experience in a similar role is essential
• A willingness to work out of hours and travel where necessary is essential
• Strong business acumen is essential along with experience of forecasting, annual budgeting, cost control, trade analysis and reporting on a global scale.
• Proven experience of maximising store sales at store, area and regional level.
• Experienced in owning a project vision, execution, quality, and stakeholder relationship.
• Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills; superior verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work as part of a growing multi-cultural team in a fast-moving environment.
• Clear understanding of the JD Brand and wider corporate strategy.
