Key Information
* Full time (37 hours per week), all year‑round position
* Hybrid working model with a balance of home, locality and office working
* Based in a locality but casework is needs‑based and can be across Somerset
* 33 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays)
* Permanent contract
* Grade 8, £49,282 per annum
Responsibilities
* Lead the operational response to supporting children and young people (CYP) with complex SEND and those who are NEET or at high risk of becoming NEET.
* Set direction, inspire teams and deliver a more inclusive educational landscape.
* Chair critical meetings such as Team Around the Child and PEPs, providing solution‑focused advice to families and educators.
* Design and implement actionable strategies to support inclusion and reduce NEET figures in Somerset, working hand‑in‑hand with multi‑agency teams and senior leaders.
* Monitor, evaluate and refine inclusion practices, offering innovative recommendations for improvement.
* Provide line management and support to team members, acting as a positive role model and driving collaboration in key internal meetings.
* Build trusting, collaborative relationships with families, ensuring clear, compassionate communication.
Qualifications and Experience
* Specialist knowledge of post‑16 pathways and supported employment.
* Expertise in SEND: solid understanding of working with children and young people with SEND and a deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
* Leadership experience: a proven track record in a leadership role within an educational setting and supporting through change.
* Policy development skills: experience in writing and implementing impactful inclusive education policies and practices.
* Collaborative mindset: experience working effectively with parent carers, external agencies and key stakeholders.
* Relevant qualifications: a degree or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates your expertise and dedication.
