Nursing Support Worker (Emergency Department)

The Emergency Department Nursing Support Worker (NSW) plays a vital role in delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergency conditions.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the NSW supports Registered Nurses, Doctors, and Allied Health Professionals in the assessment, monitoring, and care of patients across all areas of the Emergency Department, including majors, resuscitation and triage.


Main duties of the job

There is an opportunity to learn new skills and gain further experience in caring for acutely unwell patients while developing professionally within a positive and challenging environment.

This role will require undertaking delegated clinical observations and effective communication.

The unit operates a variety of shift patterns to suit service requirements including day/night rotation.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Job responsibilities

Assist registered nurses and doctors in the assessment, monitoring, and care of emergency department patients, performing delegated clinical observations and ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the multidisciplinary team.


Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge

* Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject or equivalent experience with evidence of workplace competency and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant to the role.
* Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting, including safeguarding, confidentiality and GDPR.


Experience

* Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care.
* Experience of working with patient groups relevant to the area of practice.
* Experience of working within the NHS.


Language Skills

* Welsh Language Skills essential Level 1 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh.


Other

* Ability to work a range of shift patterns.

£26,300 to £27,890 a year per annum (pro rata if part time)
