Overview
Planning Manager role at Barratt Redrow. This position participates in managing the spectrum of planning system areas on behalf of the Company, influencing planning policy, strategic land promotion, development management processes, and community engagement strategies. Depending on the team, you may identify future land acquisition opportunities, devise planning strategies, manage consultant teams, draft statements for planning applications, and deliver planning projects of various scales. You will liaise with planning authorities, local stakeholders and residents, reporting to the Development Director or Technical Director, and support the Land/Development and Technical departments in planning matters to help achieve land acquisition and plot delivery targets.
Your responsibilities include working with the division to manage planning applications and land promotions, ensuring timely progress and effective expenditure management, and engaging extensively with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Management of immediate planning applications, devising planning strategies and coordinating applications from submission to permission and beyond.
* Liaison with strategic land function in day-to-day management of planning promotion.
* Undertake site appraisals and provide reports to support identification and acquisition of new development opportunities.
* Provide support to wider divisional departments on planning-related matters.
* Review and produce planning statements and supporting documentation for submissions, discharge of conditions, and S106 submissions.
* Monitor progress of planning statuses of Local Authorities LDFs within the division.
* Appoint and manage external consultants involved in planning applications/promotions.
* Oversee planning application expenditure and budgets and contribute to internal reporting.
* Engage with stakeholders including LPAs, statutory bodies, Councillors and the public.
* Negotiate relevant legal documents including S106 Agreements.
* Promote and act in accordance with Group values, policies and procedures.
What You’ll Need
* Preferred graduate level – Planner or Chartered Surveyor.
* RTPI and/or RICS accreditation; 5 years’ experience with a local authority, house builder or private consultancy.
* Experience in managing major planning applications within LPA, consultancy or housebuilder environments.
* Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
* Driving licence and good knowledge of the local area preferred.
* Ability to work on own initiative, self-manage and prioritise workload.
* PC literate.
