Job Description
This is a hands-on, all-round finance role offering real breadth and visibility across the business. Working closely with a highly experienced Accounts Manager (28+ years with the business), you'll gain full exposure to the finance function with a clear succession pathway into a more senior role within 12-18 months.
3. Manage sales and purchase ledger activities, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations
4. Oversee credit control and customer account management
5. Process supplier invoices, including import documentation and VAT considerations
6. Prepare and run payment runs (GBP & foreign currency)
7. Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash transactions
8. Support month-end processes, including reporting and stock/sales analysis
9. Assist with VAT returns and HMRC submissions
10. Produce management information to support external accountants
11. Support payroll and pension administration (c.20 employees)
12. Work closely with the wider business to ensure accurate financial data and controls
The Successful Applicant
A successful Assistant Accountant should have:
13. A background in accounting or finance, with relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
14. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
15. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
16. A detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in financial records.
17. The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
18. Knowledge of the industrial and manufacturing sector is advantageous but not essential.
19. A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
