A public‑sector organisation in South Wales is recruiting a Schools Finance Support Officer to support its education finance function on a temporary basis.This role provides direct financial support to schools, working closely with school leadership teams and finance staff to assist with budgeting, monitoring, and regulatorypliance. You will manage a portfolio of schools, helping them plan and control budgets, understand financial pressures, andply with grant and funding requirements.Key Responsibilities
1. Provide financial advice and support to schools in line with education finance regulations and internal policies
2. Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and review of school budgets, including staffing and ie projections
3. Support schools with deficit recovery planning and financial sustainability
4. Reconcile school finance systems with central finance data
5. Support year‑end processes and prepare financial information as required
6. Work collaboratively with internal finance, payroll, audit, and education teams
7. Provide guidance to school‑based finance staff to support consistent financial practice
About You
8. A solid finance background, ideally within education or the public sector
9. Strong Excel skills, with confidence working with financial data and models
10. Clear and effectivemunicator, able to explain financial information to non‑finance stakeholders
11. Able to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
12. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel to schools as required
