Lecturer – Construction Trades (Various) Fixed Term until 26 June 2026 Variable Hours £41,833 - £50,359 per annum, pro rata UHI Perth is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a large partner in Scotland’s newest University, the University of the Highlands and Islands. We are looking to recruit a Lecturer Construction from a variety of trade backgrounds, covering either Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork, Roofing or Painting & Decorating to join our growing team of teaching staff. You will support and deliver education and training to full-time, part-time, National Progression Awards, Schools, Foundation and Modern Apprenticeship courses. The campus is well resourced to deliver a sector leading and innovative learning experience in construction trades with a well-balanced mix of classrooms and practical training workshops. Within your specialisation, you will be responsible for preparing materials for learning, teaching and assessment and the teaching of theory, practical elements, and supervising student work. You will also contribute to the development of the Built Environment, Construction Crafts and Building Services curricula. You should be appropriately qualified with ideally a certificate at SVQ L3 or PDA level 7 or equivalent apprenticeship / time-served qualification. Further training will be provided for the successful candidate where required. This post is a flexible contract for up to 35 hours per week, providing a variety of working hour options for applicants, thus potentially suited to someone self-employed, with an ability to work part of the week with UHI Perth. In addition to the above, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively within a team. A strong customer- focus and an awareness of high standards is required in the relevant trade industry. You should have a passion and drive to be an effectual and innovative contributor to the continued success of this department. Previous teaching experience is not essential for candidates with appropriate industrial experience.
