Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist for a senior clinical leadership role in our child and adolescent neurodevelopment service at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). The role involves leading complex neurodevelopmental assessments across Gwynedd and Anglesey, collaborating with senior leads, multidisciplinary teams, and external partners to drive innovation and service development for neurodiverse populations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialised psychological assessment and therapy to clients in the sector.
* Take designated responsibility for the systematic governance of staff psychological practice, ensuring high quality service delivery within team/service policies and procedures.
* Supervise and manage staff up to Senior level, including appraisal and PADR.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of local team policies and procedures.
* Advise service and professional management on psychological and organisational matters.
* Provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee psychologists and deliver training to other professionals.
* Utilise specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.
* Act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff, as appropriate.
* Assist the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Head of Child Psychology in the day‑to‑day management of the service.
Person Specification
Essential criteria
* Post‑graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the British Psychological Society.
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
* Clinical supervision training for supervising Doctoral trainees.
* Substantial assessed experience as a qualified and senior clinical psychologist, including significant post‑qualification experience within the designated speciality.
* Demonstrated specialist training/experience and clinical supervision of working as a specialist Clinical Psychologist.
* Experience of specialised psychological assessment and treatment across a wide range of care settings.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and coordinating multidisciplinary care‑planning.
* Experience of providing teaching, training and professional supervision.
Desirable criteria
* Recognised qualification in supervision.
* Record of publications in peer‑reviewed or professional journals and/or books.
* Experience of professional management of qualified clinical psychologists and other staff.
* Ability to speak Welsh; leadership and management skills.
