We are recruiting an Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) to join the Respiratory Physiology Team at Arrowe Park Hospital, Ward 37, Respiratory Lab. The post holder will support the Respiratory Diagnostics Service by delivering high‑quality diagnostic investigations, following policies and procedures, and working with senior physiologists as appropriate. The role requires adherence to ARTP standards when performing spirometry and successful completion of certification and registration within 12 months of initial ARTP registration. The position involves work across multiple sites – Arrowe Park Hospital, Clatterbridge Diagnostic Hub and community clinics across Wirral – so applicants must hold a full valid UK driving licence or be willing to commute by Trust or public transport.
Responsibilities
* Provide all types of spirometry and FeNO assessments with training and experience.
* Prepare and provide sleep monitors and overnight oximetry for patients.
* Assist physiologists with the delivery of the sleep service, including gathering consumables, planning and booking clinics.
* Report patient concerns identified during examinations.
* Evaluate, interpret and present all test results in accordance with departmental policy.
* Ensure timely completion of duties via the hospital computer system to maintain comprehensive procedural records.
Qualifications
* Education: B'TEC/NVQ or equivalent; a desire to develop professional skills is desirable.
* ARTP Spirometry Certification or willingness to work towards certification.
* Knowledge and understanding of respiratory physiology.
* Full and valid UK driving licence.
* Disclosure and Barring Service Check (subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975).
