The Medicine Directorate have an exciting opportunity available to join our friendly, fast paced and proactive Cardiology Team.
You will have excellent communication skills, being able to display tact and diplomacy where appropriate. You will have a flexible approach to working within the team and respond effectively to enquiries from the general public, service users and other colleagues.
The successful applicants will be enthusiastic, experienced typists and have GCSE English and Maths grade C and above or equivalent as well as audio typing and word processing skills equivalent to RSA level 3.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a medical secretary for the Cardiology Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists and wider team including the Cardiac Suite. You will be responsible for providing an effective and well-organised administrative service and for meeting the changing priorities within the department.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Educated to GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
2. RSA grade II or equivalent touch typing skills.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
3. Comprehensive IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Outlook diary management.
4. Excellent organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
5. Ability to work as part of a team in a multidisciplinary environment.
6. Excellent communication skills, including managing difficult conversations.
7. Intermediate/advanced and accurate word processing skills.
8. Analytical and judgement skills – ability to review data and highlight potential problems to management team, along with potential solutions.

9. Evidence of high-level office administration skills with experience of developing and maintaining robust office procedures
