About Us

We are Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation responsible for regulating general and vocational qualifications in Wales.

The Priorities

* To develop a coherent and inclusive range of qualifications for learners aged 14-16
* To build an effective and sustainable qualifications offer
* To modernise assessment approaches
* To support the qualifications system through grants and expertise

We are now looking for two Qualifications Managers to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week. Requests for alternative working patterns, including part-time and job share, may be discussed at the interview.

The Benefits

* Salary of £47,675 - £56,445 per annum
* 31 days’ annual leave (plus public holidays and office closure at Christmas)

The Role

As our Qualifications Manager, you will ensure learners have access to high-quality, inclusive qualifications, leading the development and reform of qualifications.

Working across our Qualifications Policy and Reform (QPR) and Regulation functions, you will contribute to the development and oversight of policy or oversee a range of regulatory activities, depending on which area you are operating in.

Monitoring compliance with regulation, assessing evidence, and making informed judgements, you will support our Regulation function by managing complex cases to ensure awarding bodies meet required standards. You will also support our QPR function by ensuring the availability and sustainability of post-16 vocational qualifications through stakeholder engagement, sector insight and ongoing review activity.

Additionally, you will:

* Plan, schedule, and deliver projects
* Provide strategic direction for the awarding of grants to awarding bodies
* Liaise with awarding bodies to track progress
* Appoint and manage subject experts
* Lead and manage a small team

About You

To be considered as a Qualifications Manager, you will need:

* Experience of working at a management level in a regulatory, qualifications development or quality assurance context
* Significant experience in the qualifications, education or training sectors
* Experience in managing or leading projects
* A demonstrable understanding of broader policy impacting the Welsh language and Welsh language education
* The ability to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders
* Strong analytical skills

The closing date for this role is 22nd April 2026.

Other organisations may call this role Qualifications Development Manager, Education Programmes Manager, Education Project Manager, Qualifications Review Manager, or Regulatory Manager.
