About the Role
We’re looking for an Optical Assistant to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the practice.
This is a varied, hands‑on role where you’ll be involved across the full patient journey — from reception and pre‑screening through to dispensing support.
You’ll be joining a supportive, close-knit team, and we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates confidently with patients, and enjoys being part of a professional environment.
What the Role Involves
* Booking and managing appointments (phone and in practice)
* Running a busy reception desk
* Preparing patients for their eye examination and building rapport
* Carrying out pre‑screening tests accurately and consistently
* Supporting dispensing, adjustments, and repairs
* Helping the practice run smoothly day to day

This role will suit someone who:
* May have previous optical or retail/customer service experience — but this is not essential
* Is confident speaking with patients and putting them at ease
* Takes real care with detail and accuracy, particularly in pre‑screening
* Is organised, reliable, and happy taking responsibility
* Is proactive and willing to get involved, rather than waiting to be asked
* Enjoys working as part of a team and contributing positively
* Wants to learn, develop, and build a long‑term role

Working Pattern
* Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
* Alternate Saturdays (9:00 – 5:30)
* Participation in 1–2 late finishes per month (Thursdays)
