Main Activities:

1. Delivering challenging, engaging, and enjoyable activities.
2. Forming relationships with the children, enabling them to be comfortable in their surroundings and providing an environment where they can play and explore.
3. Working as part of a team to deliver high standards of care and education.
4. Ensuring that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff, and others.
5. Having a good understanding of safeguarding issues.
6. Developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
7. Providing a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
8. Delivering an appropriate play-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
9. Helping ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
10. Working with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families.
11. Understanding and working to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints, and emergencies.
12. Planning activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.
13. Providing intimate care.
14. Providing first aid if trained.
15. Ensuring records are properly maintained, e.g., daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments.
16. Liaising closely with parents/carers, informing them about nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress, and encouraging parents’ involvement.
17. Working in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
18. Undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the preschool aims and objectives.

Generic Responsibilities:

1. To undertake further training as required.
2. To be aware of and observe all policies, procedures, working practices, and regulations. In particular:
* Employees must comply with the provisions of ‘The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974’ and must take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions whilst at work. Employees are also required to cooperate with their employer to enable them to perform or comply with any statutory provisions.
* To understand, comply with, and promote the Trust’s safeguarding policy and procedures. It is the responsibility of all employees to make the working environment safe and secure for all.
* It is the responsibility of all staff to comply with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy. The key responsibilities for staff under this Policy are set out in the Trust Code of Conduct. The duties described in this Job Description must be carried out in a manner that promotes equality of opportunity, dignity, and respect for all employees and service users.
* To maintain confidentiality about pupils, clients, staff, and other Trust business. The work is of a confidential nature, and information gained must not be communicated to other persons except in the recognized course of duty. The post holder must meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act at all times.
* To report to the line manager, or other appropriate person, in the event of awareness of bad practice.
* Employees must adhere to the Code of Conduct and comply with all reasonable management requests.

The post holder will need to be flexible in developing the role in conjunction with the line manager. The post holder may be asked to carry out any other delegated duty or task that is in line with their post.
