School Crossing Patrol Officer – St John’s CE School, Buckhurst Hill
Permanent, Term Time – 7.5 hours per week, £13.00 per hour. Location: Buckhurst Hill. Working style: Operational field-based worker.
Support schools twice a day (morning 08:00‑09:00, afternoon 14:45‑15:45) ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from the school. The role will involve providing a positive public presence and assisting where needed during the 39 weeks of the academic year.
Responsibilities
* Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility‑impacted pedestrians.
* Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
* Regularly assess the risks at the crossing site and report problems or defects to a supervisor.
* Assist in preparing reports on accidents, failed stop incidents, and other incidents at the crossing site.
* Ensure all uniform and equipment are kept in good condition and request replacements when needed.
* Give clear signal to drivers when stopping traffic and ensure traffic remains stopped until pedestrians have cleared the crossing.
Uniform, equipment and training will be provided.
