We're recruiting for a Tax Risk & Project Manager who will be responsible for the tax risk management framework within L&G including preparation of SAO report, acting as Secretary to the Tax Risk Committee and input into the Annual Report and Accounts on risk matters. A large proportion of this role will be supporting tax reporting and compliance projects including Pillar II implementation and wider Finance Transformation.
Additionally, this role has responsibility for a small number of Group Head Office companies' tax compliance and supports group reporting as required.
You will be responsible for completing the Senior Accounting Officer disclosures annually and ensuring processes are in place to support a clean sign-off annually.
You will communicate the L&G approach to tax risk management to HMRC.
You will be responsible for the management of tax risk across the group including secretary to the Tax Risk Committee, developing and managing the tax risk framework. You will ensure tax policies are in place where appropriate and work with the wider tax team to develop, refresh and update existing policies where required.
You will support the Chief Tax Officer and Head of Tax Compliance, Reporting & Risk on managing L&G's relationship with HMRC, including engagement planning and co-ordination, and monitoring of open issues.
You will provide tax support for major tax projects including Pillar II implementation and Finance Transformation.
Completion of corporation tax computations and group reporting for a small number of Group Head Office companies.
You will liaise with key finance and business contacts to build networks and ensure smooth management of tax risk processes and projects.
Business Partnering with Group Risk and finance teams across the required divisions.
You will support the Chief Tax Officer with tax projects as they arise. Support other members of the tax team with ad hoc queries, projects and transactions as required. You will provide tax input into advisory papers as appropriate.
Statutory and regulatory legislation
• Knowledge of UK Taxes Acts, specifically in relation to corporation tax to the extent that they apply to the companies in the group for which tax responsibility held.
• Knowledge of IAS 12 and other tax aspects of UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Business/Commercial
• Understanding of the general business and financial services environment and regulatory business requirements and its impact on Legal & General's strategy.
• Develops practical knowledge of each of the Group's businesses and how they interrelate including a knowledge of the operational structures of senior management and their reporting lines.
• Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Group's policies and procedures including the Group's risk management framework.
• Develops and maintains a commercial awareness of all businesses and products offered within the L&G Group.
Ability to manage the production of both internal and external financial reporting documentation.
Develop knowledge of L&G Group's Consolidation System and UK general ledger.
• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office products in particular Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Detailed application of the department's specific tax software packages.
Prioritisation, planning and organisation of multitask/person assignments.
• Obtains appropriate factual data to assist in decision-making.
