Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Faith to Faithless, Humanists UK’s support programme for individuals who have left high-control religions. We’re expanding our in-person events across England and Wales and are seeking passionate volunteers to help us make a difference. Currently, we have regular events in Manchester and elsewhere in the UK, and we aim to expand our offerings. Volunteers will support our Apostate Event Organisers in running monthly or bi-monthly events.

The Faith to Faithless service is led by apostates themselves, who have firsthand knowledge and experience of the challenges faced by apostate communities. These issues include emotional and physical abuse from family, friends, and community members, as well as homelessness, shunning, ‘honour-based’ abuse, and systemic failures by statutory organizations to support apostates.
Faith to Faithless engages in activities across three main areas:
1. Providing a platform for apostate voices to be heard and raising awareness of the issues they face, both online through our dedicated website and through public speaker events.
2. Offering an apostate support programme through facilitated peer support groups and meet-ups.
3. Training statutory and support organizations such as police, social services, and mental health services to better understand apostates’ issues and the implications for their policies and practices.
Our work has connected us with tens of thousands of apostates, and we have directly supported over a thousand since the programme's inception.

Volunteers need to be based in London, and lived experience of leaving a high-control religion is essential. We especially welcome individuals who have left Christian denominations, such as Jehovah's Witnesses or Evangelical Christians. This will complement our existing volunteer team, which includes ex-Muslims and former members of the Jewish faith. We are committed to ensuring our volunteers reflect the diversity of our service users.
