Description and Requirements
Lenovo is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Regulatory Counsel to support and help shape its global asset finance and leasing platform with Lenovo Global Financial Services (LGFS). LGFS is the Leasing and Financing arm designed to support Lenovo's Solutions and Services Group (SSG). This is a senior, strategic global role, working closely with Legal, Compliance, Treasury, Credit, Finance and senior business stakeholders across regions. The business supports some of the largest and most complex technology deployments globally and continues to expand rapidly across regulated and semi regulated markets. The role carries real responsibility and influence, supporting Lenovo’s continued innovation led growth, including the financing of AI driven, infrastructure heavy and cross border technology solutions.
The position is ideally suited to candidates from a banking or regulated financial services environment, or senior asset finance or leasing lawyers who wish to deepen and formalize their financial regulatory credentials within a global, in house financial services platform.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide senior‑level, strategic legal and regulatory advice to support LGFS’s global leasing and asset‑finance activities.
2. Lead and support regulatory assessments, licensing analysis and market‑entry initiatives aligned with Lenovo’s global expansion and growth strategy.
3. Act as a senior point of contact for engagement with regulators, supervisory authorities and external counsel across jurisdictions.
4. Partner with the Compliance function, which owns group‑wide AML/KYC/ABC policies and frameworks, and be a dedicated advisor to LGFS for compliance related considerations.
5. Collaborate with and assist transactional lawyers on complex cross‑border financing, leasing and receivables‑funding structures, including transactions supporting large‑scale AI and infrastructure deployments.
6. Manage regulatory workstreams independently by tracking progress, escalating issues as appropriate, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders at all levels.
7. Provide solutions‑driven legal and regulatory advice to internal and external customers, including leading negotiations where positions are challenged, and shaping outcomes that appropriately balance commercial objectives with legal and regulatory risk.
8. Identify emerging regulatory risks relevant to LGFS’s operating model, and define pragmatic, business‑aligned mitigations.
9. Contribute to and help shape regulatory playbooks, internal frameworks, policies and senior‑level guidance for global stakeholders.
10. Engage proactively in knowledge sharing within the wider legal team by participating in team meetings, workshops, or cross-functional initiatives aimed at elevating organizational capability.
Required Experience & Skills
11. Qualified solicitor or regulatory specialist with least 12 years' post-qualification experience specializing in financial regulation or asset finance law within private practice or an in-house environment.
12. Deep familiarity with financial‑services regulatory frameworks, or substantial experience advising on asset‑finance and leasing transactions within a banking environment.
13. Background in banking, financial services or another regulated financial‑services environment (essential).
14. Experience engaging directly with regulators or supervisory authorities is highly desirable.
15. Experience with cross border leasing, asset finance, equipment finance or receivables finance. Ability to independently draft and negotiate finance and security documents will be highly desirable.
16. Track record of managing regulatory change implementation projects across master template documentation while creating or enhancing internal procedures/frameworks.
17. Ability to advise across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory regimes with confidence, whilst engaging and supervising external counsel as needed and use of legal AI software.
18. Senior‑level commercial judgment, strong risk awareness and a solutions‑oriented mindset.
19. Excellent communication skills and cultural awareness to meaningfully engage with senior stakeholders spread across global.
20. Comfortable working internationally, across regions and time zones.
21. Commitment to building an inclusive workplace culture, supporting diversity initiatives, and contributing to Lenovo’s ESG ambitions.
22. Senior asset‑finance or leasing lawyers with less formal regulatory exposure will be considered, provided they demonstrate a clear commitment to developing regulatory expertise within a global financial‑services environment.
