Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Electrical Support Engineer is a critical role within the onshore O&M team, responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of equipment while maintaining regulatory compliance. The position is part of a multi-disciplinary operations support team with an electrical engineering and maintenance focus supporting Duty Holder decommissioning operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure electrical equipment is safely managed and maintained effectively, with activities compliant with statutory regulations, health, safety, and environmental practices.
2. Prioritize repairs and inspections; record the integrity status of electrical equipment and assess associated risks.
3. Review maintenance deferrals for planned and corrective work.
4. Manage third-party electrical generation equipment hire and offshore vendor maintenance.
5. Ensure compliance with company Electrical Assurance and Verification requirements.
6. Review and contribute to Operational Risk Assessments.
7. Manage the electrical asset budget.
8. Contribute to the Management of Change process, documenting design and maintenance changes; occasionally manage minor modifications.
9. Provide technical support to offshore maintenance and project teams.
10. Conduct engineering studies and root cause investigations to support continuous improvement.
11. Liaise with manufacturers on troubleshooting and problem-solving.
12. Support decommissioning plans and strategies for equipment rundown and maintenance to ensure safe operations.
13. Assist with obsolescence management aligned with decommissioning milestones.
14. Participate in critical equipment reliability and availability reviews.
15. Review critical and operational spares to ensure availability aligned with project milestones.
16. Review decommissioning work packs, programs, and technical proposals from third parties.
17. Support decommissioning programs and the implementation of safe electrical procedures.
18. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
Competence Requirements
Knowledge & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or proven relevant offshore experience.
* Chartership accreditation with a recognized UK professional body is preferred, recognized as a Chartered Engineer through the Engineering Council UK.
* Valid OGUK Medical, MIST, and BOSIET are preferred.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in an electrical support role within the energy industry.
* Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
* Ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision.
* Ability to lead, influence, and coach others.
* Strong communication skills and relationship-building ability.
* Experience in adapting to and leading change, promoting organizational values.
