Your Company:A growing and well-established contractor is seeking an MechanicalEstimator to join their team, based in the Hampshire area.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesWhile in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:
* Preparing and submitting competitive tenders and quotations, typically ranging from £100k to £2m+, in line with client requirements
* Calculating accurate job costs, including time, labour and materials for complex and bespoke contracts
* Managing and assisting with the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) for larger tenders
* Negotiating effective and commercially sound cost settlements for projects
* Analysing contract documentation and preparing detailed sub-contractor enquiry and pricing packages
* Liaising and negotiating with sub-contractors and key suppliers to ensure best value and competitiveness
* Meeting with clients to clarify design requirements and explain the basis of estimates when required
* Carrying out drawing take-offs and preparing schedules of rates from drawings and bills of quantities
* Identifying contractual, financial, technical and operational risks, while highlighting opportunities to maximise gross profit
* Managing and prioritising your own workload while maintaining accurate tender records
What you will need to Apply:
* Strong commercial awareness with a proactive and problem-solving mindset
* Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to communicate clearly at all levels
* Good IT skills, particularly Excel and Word
* A highly organised approach with strong attention to detail and accuracy
* The ability to manage multiple tenders and projects simultaneously while working to deadlines
* A driven, ambitious and self-motivated attitude
* Previous estimating and job costing experience within the M&E construction industry is preferred (minimum 2 years ideal, but not essential)
