The Role This is a hands-on technical leadership role within a scaling engineering team. You'll lead backend engineering across multiple client platforms, helping define architectural direction, engineering standards, and delivery practices across modern cloud-native systems. You'll work closely with engineering leadership, cloud teams, designers, and stakeholders while mentoring developers and shaping the future of backend engineering within the organisation. Key Responsibilities Lead backend engineering strategy and technical direction across projects Design and deliver scalable Node.js and TypeScript microservices Define architecture standards, API strategy, and engineering best practices Drive cloud-native development patterns across AWS and Azure environments Mentor engineers through code reviews, coaching, and technical leadership Collaborate with stakeholders on technical scoping and delivery planning Champion engineering quality, CI/CD, observability, and maintainability Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to long-term platform strategy What You'll Need Essential 8+ years' commercial backend engineering experience Strong Node.js and TypeScript expertise Experience leading engineering teams or technical direction Strong cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP Proven experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native engineering Nice to Have Event-driven architecture experience Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code exposure Enterprise integration or composable commerce experience Why Apply?
