Sign-on Bonus Opportunity: MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 for eligible experienced Registered Nurses with 1-2 years of experience, and up to $20,000 for those with more than 2 years of RN experience. Bonuses are prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees and former employees with less than 6 months separation are ineligible.
Unit Description: Our 19-bed Labor/Delivery/Recovery unit at Maine Medical Center handles approximately 3,300 births annually. We accept high-risk pregnancy transfers from Maine and New Hampshire. The department offers a Clinical RN growth pathway, with opportunities for professional development, research, and leadership. The team is highly motivated, with expectations of Inpatient OB RNC certification within two years of hire. The position involves 12-hour night shifts, with every third weekend rotation.
Position Summary: The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center’s mission by demonstrating excellence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings, in accordance with national nursing standards and organizational policies.
Minimum Requirements:
* BSN preferred; must enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete it within five years.
* Current RN license in Maine.
* At least 1 year of RN experience; cardiac telemetry, OR, ER, or perinatal experience preferred.
* Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education annually.
* Demonstrates caring practice, technical skills for diverse patient populations, and effective communication.
* Ability to identify and respond to potential crises.
* Option to remain at Clinical Nurse II level without seeking advancement.
