Solar Electrician – Overview
We are working with the largest Solar Installer in the South West who have won the Best Installer award for the last 7 years running, plus the best company to work for in Cornwall & Devon area this year. They are a £20m turnover business with 2 Offices (soon to be 3) and over 50 employees in Cornwall & Devon. They are looking for a Solar Electrician to come on board to work within 1 hour radius of Exeter only.
The role is 80% domestic installs and 20% commercial installs. They push for quality over quantity of jobs so dependent on size, you usually get 1-4 days to complete a domestic install and longer for a commercial. You will attend site alongside a team of installers who will get the roof and panel work done and then help you with cable running to best complete your side of the job. You will meet at the Exeter hub on the first day of the installation and debrief the team about the job your starting, how best to complete it and pick up all the stock. For the subsequent days on site you will travel straight there. You will be working on diverse projects, from solar PV installations to EV charging and battery storage.
The company have a great culture and are all about looking after their staff, enjoying your work and enjoying your home life. They have frequent company trips abroad and meet 4 times a year during work time so you can do some activities whilst still being paid. You have monthly 1-2-1’s with your Manager to discuss career progression and how they can improve things on a day to day basis for you.
They have a fantastic in house training centre to help you gain new qualifications and develop your career and they are big on career progression. They want you to reach the goals you want to achieve, something they have introduced in the last couple of years is ‘job swap’ periods during the year where you can go and spend time with the Design Team, or the QS’ etc to get experience in what they do. This means you can easily transfer into one of these roles if you want to progress!
