We're looking for two Veterinary Nurses to join the Veterinary Team at our Birmingham Animal Hospital, reporting to one of our Nursing Team Leaders.

* Working hours: 35 hours per week on a shift basis over a 10 week rolling rota
* Day shifts: 8:00am - 3:30pm
* Evening shifts: 2:30pm - 10:00pm
* Nights: 10:00pm - 8:00am once every 10 weeks for which you'll receive a night shift allowance of 33% of your basic hourly rate.

Birmingham Animal Hospital is located in a charming rural setting amongst 70 acres of countryside, but has excellent motorway access, and is a 20 minute drive from central Birmingham. It consists of a friendly and enthusiastic team of seven Vet Surgeons, 20 RVNs and nine support staff. The management team are extremely passionate about personal growth, and the hospital itself is nice and spacious with modern facilities and equipment.

Our Veterinary Nurses are integral to the smooth running of the busy hospital. The successful candidates will carry out nursing duties for a unique variety of animal welfare cases and species, including cats, dogs and wildlife.

The hospital works directly to help animals most in need by supporting the work of the RSPCA's Inspectors, animal centres and branches, providing essential veterinary care around the clock.

Are you ready to join our movement?

We have added a short summary of what is involved but for full details, please review the attached job description.

* Welfare and case work support;
* Provide direct medical and surgical patient care;
* Maintain up to date and accurate clinical records;
* Dispense drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and clinic rules;
* Maintaining a high level of clinical hygiene and biosecurity throughout the hospital;
* Anaesthetic monitoring, perioperative nursing care and theatre practice;
* Taking part in community engagement initiatives;
* Undertaking continuing professional and personal development associated with the role.

Please only apply for this role if you are a fully qualified Vet Nurse with a current registration with the RCVS, along with proven previous experience of working in a relevant discipline, for example within a veterinary practice, wildlife rehabilitation centre, animal centre or similar.

Our Veterinary Nurses must also be able to demonstrate that they:

* Have strong communication skills;
* Are able to assess and make evidenced based clinical decisions;
* Are able and willing to work autonomously and be an excellent team player;
* Have strong prioritisation skills and are highly organised;
* Are a strong problem solver, with a proven ability to use their initiative.

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles may need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK as we are unable to sponsor visas.

We are building the future of a diverse Society, and our priority is to support animal welfare by finding people from all backgrounds who are committed to our mission. For this reason we actively encourage application from members of minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA. Your transferable skills & lived experiences could make you a valuable addition to our team.

Should you need any support with your application or interview process please contact resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk / 0300 123 0685.
