We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and forward-thinking GP practice on a 12-month maternity cover basis starting in mid-July 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in patient care, supporting safe prescribing and medicines optimisation within a collaborative primary care team.
At Voyager Family Health, you will be at the heart of ensuring patients receive accurate, timely, and safe medication changes following hospital and clinic interactions. You will work closely with GPs, pharmacists and our wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality care in a supportive and innovative environment.

Main duties of the job
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring safe and effective medicines management across the practice. You will review and process clinical correspondence, ensuring medication changes are accurately reflected in patient records and appropriately actioned.
You will support prescription processing, handle medication queries from patients and pharmacies, and assist with medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge. The role also involves contributing to medication safety work, including responding to drug alerts and supporting prescribing audits.
Working closely with our clinical pharmacists and administrative teams, you will help maintain high standards of prescribing practice, support patients with medication‑related queries, and ensure accurate record‑keeping using clinical systems.
Job responsibilities
* Review incoming clinical correspondence (e.g., discharge summaries, clinic letters)
* Interpret and implement medication changes accurately on the clinical system
* Update repeat and acute medications (start, stop, amend)
* Identify discrepancies and escalated to GP or pharmacist where required
* Ensure all actions are completed safely and in a timely manner
* Code relevant clinical information appropriately
* Undertake medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge or care transitions
* Ensure GP records align with secondary care recommendations
* Liaise with hospitals, community pharmacies and care homes to resolve discrepancies
* Process repeat and acute prescription requests accurately
* Manage medication‑related queries from patients, pharmacies and healthcare professionals
* Ensure prescriptions meet legal and safety requirements
* Support medication reviews and prescribing audits
* Monitor high‑risk medications (e.g., anticoagulants, methotrexate)
* Action national safety alerts (e.g., MHRA/NHS alerts, drug recalls)
* Support safe prescribing initiatives and adherence to local formularies
* Respond to medication queries from patients within scope of practice
* Support patient understanding and adherence to medication
* Work collaboratively with GPs, pharmacists, nurses and admin teams
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medication records on clinical systems (e.g., EMIS)
* Run searches and reports for audits and quality improvement
* Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience handling clinical correspondence and medication changes OR a strong medicines management background
* Experience working in general practice or a primary care network
* Experience with medicines reconciliation and discharge processing
* Understanding of NHS prescribing systems and local formularies
Qualifications
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council – GPhC
* GCSE Mathematics & English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
